The Virginia Cavaliers picked up a big win over Duke on Saturday and created some breathing room in the ACC bowl hierarchy in the process. At 5-2 and 3-1 in the ACC, the Hoos are firmly-entrenched in the league’s second-tier behind Clemson. UVA’s joined in that tier by Wake Forest (6-1, 2-1 ACC) and Pittsburgh (5-2, 2-1 ACC).
There are still seven Saturdays between now and Bowl Selection Sunday, but for now, it looks like Clemson, Virginia, Wake, and Pitt are in prime position for bids to the ACC’s top bowl games.
