In a great defensive showing, the Villanova Wildcats defeated the UConn Huskies 68-60 at the Finneran Pavilion.
It was the first meeting between both teams since the Huskies rejoined the Big East.
Villanova (14-3, 9-2 Big East) did not shoot the ball particularly well, going 5-of-22 from three, however their harassing defense was the key to their win against an impressive UConn (10-6, 7-6 Big East).
For ‘Nova, Collin Gillespie led the way, scoring 20 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was also integral in the win, as he scored 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
