Villanova guard Jalen Brunson wins Big 5 Freshman of the Year

The Palestra played host to the annual Big 5 banquet on Monday night, and Villanova Wildcats guard Jalen Brunson was named the Freshman of the Year.

Brunson averaged 9.6 ppg, 1.8 rpg and 2.5 apg this season for the Wildcats, but was especially impressive during Big 5 play where he averaged 17 ppg and 4 apg, including a career-high 25 points in the win at Temple, his father Rick Brunson's alma mater.

St. Joseph's coach Phil Martelli was named the Coach of the Year, while junior DeAndre Bembry was named the Player of the Year.
