The Villanova Wildcats returned to the AP Poll Top 25 on Monday, securing the #22 spot. Their resurgence in the poll comes in the midst of a five game winning streak, including opening Big East play at 4-0. This was an especially successful weeks for the Cats, defeating then ranked St. John’s at home before picking up a road win at Creighton.
Villanova is joined in the rankings by fellow Big East school Marquette at #15. St. John’s (12) fell into the “others receiving votes” category after losing to DePaul at home, albeit without star guard Shamorie Ponds.
