A slow start by the Villanova Wildcats and an explosive finish from the Virginia Tech Hokies allowed the Hokies to beat the ‘Cats, 81-73.
Virginia Tech came out with aggression midway through the second half, taking away Villanova’s 12 point lead. Villanova got to tie it up before the buzzer, but Virginia Tech pulled ahead in overtime.
Keve Aluma led the Hokies with 23 points. Nahiem Alleyne contributed 20 points, and Justin Mutts scored 12 points.
For the ‘Cats, Collin Gillespie led the way with 25 points and four assists.
