Jay Wright was unable to retain his title as the City 6 Coaches Pop-A-Shot Champion yesterday at Preston and Steve’s Campout For Hunger. Wright had won the Championship twice before, following each of Villanvoa’s National Championships in 2016 and 2018.
Wright was able to qualify for the finals on a Kris Jenkins-esque buzzer beater, setting up a head to head with Penn coach Steve Donahue. However it was Donahue, also a former Pop-A-Shot champion, who caught fire in the finals and walked away with the Championship.
Donahue admitted afterward that since the two coaches face each other again Wednesday, he probably should have let Wright win instead of giving him even more motivation.
