Xavier’s narrow win over Creighton on Thursday afternoon set a Friday night date with the defending champs.
The teams split their regular season matchups which each side winning the home leg by double-digits, so this semi-final matchup promises to produce a good game. Xavier will try to use their size advantage to stifle Villanova’s attack, while the Wildcats’ big 3 of Phil Booth, Eric Paschall and Collin Gillespie looked on their game in a big win over Providence.
While X absolutely needs to win the Big East Tournament to go dancing, Villanova appears to have an outside shot of moving on to the 5-seed line if they can win it all in New York.
