George McPhee of the Vegas Golden Knights is among the finalists for 2018 NHL general manager of the year. It's a well-deserved honour for McPhee, who was also a finalist for the award in 2009-10 as general manager of the Washington Capitals.
Thanks to his efforts, the Golden Knights became the first team in the modern expansion era to win its division, setting regular-season records for wins (51) and points (109) by a team in its inaugural season.
McPhee's next challenge will be maintaining the Golden Knights as a Cup contender beyond this season.
