This year's free agent market is a bit of a mixed bag and it is no secret that the list of potentially available players is headed by New York Islanders forward John Tavares and Washington Capitals defenceman John Carlson.
Each player is a stud in their position and look to command massive interest if they hit the open market. After that, though, the list drops off, and what you're left with are players that can supplement a lineup, but not necessarily redefine it. Nonetheless, there are bound to be teams that feel like they're a good depth forward or steady d-man away from a deep playoff run.
