The Vegas Golden Knights are entering their third NHL season and have already found themselves dealing with salary cap issues.

The Vegas Golden Knights took a step back in 2018-19, but after the numerous successes of their inaugural on-ice season, only a Stanley Cup championship would’ve been a step ahead. The Knights’ second off-season is operating in much the same way. A year after Vegas acquired former Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty in a trade and signed unrestricted free agent center Paul Stastny away from Winnipeg – then dealt for former Senators sniper Mark Stone late in the regular season – the Knights are all but salary-capped out, and don’t have enough available cap space to sign restricted free agent forward Nikita Gusev, and UFA Deryk Engelland.
