The National Hockey League faces a potential financial dilemma even if they are able to complete the 2019-20 season this summer. With projected losses of over $1 billion, that could see a significant increase in escrow for 2020-21 or a flattening of the salary cap. This situation may provide the impetus to the league and the NHL Player’s Association to work together on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement to provide a roadmap for financial stability over the next decade.
