Golden Knights send Brandon Pirri to AHL, activate Max Pacioretty

Golden Knights forward Brandon Pirri is headed back to Chicago.

Pirri was reassigned on Friday to the Golden Knights’ affiliate in the American Hockey League to make room on the roster for Max Pacioretty, who is returning from injured reserve.

Pacioretty will be in the lineup against the Anaheim Ducks when the Knights play at 7 p.m. Friday at the Honda Center.

Pirri, 27, had six goals and three assists in seven games for the Knights since he was called up to the NHL roster Dec. 19.

“We made the decision to reassign Brandon Pirri, which allows us to protect our roster to the best of our ability and gives us some time to make further decisions,” Knights assistant general manager Kelly McCrimmon said.
