The Golden Knights announced Thursday that Kelly McCrimmon has been promoted to general manager.
George McPhee, who was general manager for the first two years of the franchise, will retain the title of president of hockey operations.
The team said McCrimmon, who will report to McPhee, will represent the Golden Knights at the league’s general managers meetings and be the conduit to other NHL general managers.
McCrimmon’s name had been mentioned as a candidate for Seattle’s expansion NHL franchise.
“This is a very exciting announcement for our club and Vegas Golden Knights fans around the world,” said Vegas Golden Knights Chairman and CEO Bill Foley in a statement.
