Vanderbilt has zero all-time SEC titles. Auburn has won the conference eight times with two national championships, including one just three years ago.
Yet, when Vanderbilt prepares to meet Auburn this Saturday afternoon at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the historical record will be on the Commodores’ side.
In 42 meetings against Auburn, national champions in 1957 and 2010, Vanderbilt has won 21, lost 20 and tied once. In fact, of all the SEC teams, Auburn is the only one to have a losing record against Vanderbilt.
Much of the Commodores’ advantage in the series was racked up in the early years of the SEC, including an eight-game winning streak from 1929-50.
