Vanderbilt’s quest for an 0-18 SEC record has hit a stumbling block. According to a report in the Baton Rouge Advocate, LSU — Vanderbilt’s opponent in the season finale — has suspended head coach Will Wade in the wake of an FBI wiretap revealing that Wade made a “strong-ass offer” (we presume something beyond the value of his scholarship) to a recruit, presumed to be current LSU freshman Javonte Smart.
The interesting part of this is that Smart so far is not being held out of the game, even though he may be, according to his head coach, getting paid something equivalent to the NBA rookie minimum.
