Whitehaven DB Rayshad Williams, who had committed to Vanderbilt in June but did not sign during the early signing period, changed his mind on Signing Day and signed with the UCLA Bruins. Williams had taken an official visit to UCLA over the last weekend, but as recently as this morning, his Twitter bio still said that he was a Vanderbilt commit.
Instead, Williams will be a Bruin. This isn’t a devastating blow — Vanderbilt still signed five defensive backs (counting recent addition BJ Anderson) in the class, including two rated higher than Williams in the 247 Sports composite — but the lesson remains: any player who’s committed but doesn’t sign early is probably not coming.
