What does Darius Garland’s injury mean for Vanderbilt?

You might have heard that Vanderbilt’s star freshman Darius Garland suffered what’s being described as a “meniscus injury” in Saturday’s game against Kent State, a 77-75 Vanderbilt loss.

The fact that Vanderbilt lost to Kent State — a team that had lost to Liberty at home just a week earlier — understandably caused some panic both inside and outside the Vanderbilt fan base. That Garland only played two minutes before exiting isn’t entirely the reason that the Commodores lost — Kent State shot the crap out of the ball and Vanderbilt went 16-of-27 at the foul line, two things that aren’t directly related to Garland missing the game — but it certainly didn’t help matters.
