Following an impressive 12-0 win over South Carolina on Thursday, the Commodores dropped two straight games for their second consecutive series loss. On Friday, pitching woes doomed the Commodores late in the game. Starter Walker Buehler walked a batter with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Phillip Pfeifer then came in and walked back-to-back batters to load the bases. The control issues continued as Ben Bowden replaced Pfeifer and walked in the go-ahead run. Vanderbilt went on to lose 5-2. The Commodores faced a similar situation on Saturday with John Kilichowski on the mound, dropping the contest 3-2.
