Vanderbilt’s passing game didn’t go very far in 2016, but Kyle Shurmur and his receivers seem to be finding a better connection this year.
Offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig said the Commodores’ quarterback, and his senior-heavy receiving corps, have improved their chemistry in an interview posted after the team’s scrimmage inside Vanderbilt Stadium Thursday.
The Commodores don’t need Shurmur to carry the offense in 2017. That’s expected to be running back Ralph Webb’s job. But when Vanderbilt needs passing yards, they’re hopeful that the passer and the pass-catchers will be on the same page.
