Vanderbilt linebacker coach Osia Lewis (above, with his family) has been diagnosed with liver cancer and that has forced him to change his role on the Commodores’ staff.
Lewis was diagnosed in January with cholangiocarcinoma and will be moving to a new role as chief consultant and assistant to coach Derek Mason, which will involve less strenuous day-to-day responsibilities as he receives treatment.
“Emotionally, I was kind of numb for about two or three days,” Lewis told vucommodores.com about receiving the diagnosis. “I just didn’t have anything to say. I didn’t cry, nothing – it was just nothing.
