Vanderbilt has no answer for Georgia Tech’s offense, falls 38-7

After more than two seasons as Vanderbilt’s head coach, Derek Mason has never seen a winning record. He lost another opportunity to climb to the happy side of .500 on Saturday when Georgia Tech sliced through the Commodore defense en route to a 38-7 win.

The Yellow Jackets’ flexbone option kept Vandy on its toes all day; Tech rumbled to 511 total yards against an underprepared Commodore team. Kyle Shurmur took a step forward with a 17-26, 149-yard performance, but his offense ultimately failed to live up to last week’s standards in defeat.

Georgia Tech wasted no time taking the lead.
