As coach Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt football team prepare for the 2016 season, here are the biggest strengths and weaknesses heading into fall camp.
Offense
Biggest positive: Depth at running back. The group is led by Ralph Webb, who has rushed for more yards (2,059) than any player in school history over his first two seasons. He needs 1,085 yards to pass Zac Stacy and become the school’s leading career rusher. Look for Webb to be used even more in second-year coordinator Andy Ludwig’s West Coast offense, especially on wheel routes. When Webb needs a breather, there are Dallas Rivers and Khari Blasingame; both are 225 pounds-plus and add a between-the-tackles element.
