As Vanderbilt prepares to face Florida this Saturday, the Commodores defense is taking some cues from their in-state rivals – particularly with their pass rush.
Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason and outside linebacker Oren Burks said earlier this week that the team is looking at what Tennessee did successfully in that area against the Gators.
“They had a great pass rush and a lot of pressure on the quarterback,” Burks said. “So that’s going to be really important for us.”
Tennessee’s second-half defensive showing against Florida, combined with a string of mistakes by the Gators in pass defense, enabled the Volunteers to turn a 21-0 first-half deficit into a 38-28 victory.
