Vanderbilt 83, Tennessee State 59: Turnovers didn’t matter here, but they might later

Yeah, a 28.8% turnover rate isn’t ideal. It didn’t hurt Vanderbilt in this game because the Commodores shot the crap out of the ball (65.2% effective FG percentage) and rebounded more than half of their own misses, but when those things aren’t so strongly in Vanderbilt’s favor... this might be an issue.

That said, we kind of knew what we were getting with a Bryce Drew offense: if there’s a blind spot with Drew, his teams tend to be turnover prone. Drew’s five Valpo teams ranked 292nd, 273rd, 342nd (!), 169th, and 243rd nationally in turnover rate. So far this year, Vanderbilt ranks 261st.
