Spring preview: Vanderbilt looking for more offense

The Commodores made just a one-win jump this past season — going 4-8 after finishing 3-9 in 2014 — but while the record didn’t show it, Vandy was much better. The Commodores were winless in SEC play in ’14 but won twice in ’15, and their average margin of loss in league games dropped from 23 points in ’14 to 15 this past season.

Vanderbilt made great strides defensively under coach Derek Mason in 2015, and it’s not a stretch to think that if the offense can become merely adequate, this team could get to six wins and a bowl in 2016.
