Vanderbilt lost spring signee Austin Crowley shortly after Bryce Drew was fired last month, but Dylan Disu ultimately decided to stay in the fold after Jerry Stackhouse was announced as Vanderbilt’s new head coach.
And now, David Sisk of Rivals reports that Scotty Pippen Jr. — the son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen — will be a Commodore as well.
So: next year’s roster won’t completely fall apart. On the other hand, as of this moment Vanderbilt has eight scholarship players for next season. Now that number assumes that Simi Shittu remains in the NBA Draft, and Matt Ryan and Yanni Wetzell don’t return (both have entered their names in the transfer portal); but even if somehow all three were to return to Vanderbilt next season, the Commodores would still have two scholarships to give.
