Powell was Drew's top assistant at Valparaiso and will follow his boss to Nashville.
After Kevin Stallings took the head coaching job of the Pittsburgh Panthers, his top assistant Tom Richardson followed him to Pittsburgh; meanwhile, fellow assistant coach Adam Cohen took the same position at Stanford.
That left at least two assistant coaching vacancies for new head coach Bryce Drew, but he's already filled one of those.
Roger Powell is in attendance at the Vanderbilt press conference. He will join Bryce Drew's staff. No longer at Valparaiso.
