Vanderbilt may have lost its All-SEC performers from the 2015-16 season. Fortunately, the Commodores have two more waiting in the wings.
The league announced its preseason honors on Thursday. Center Luke Kornet and guard/forward Matthew Fisher-Davis earned second-team all-conference honors from the SEC’s coaches.
Kornet, now listed at 7’1 and expected to be 7’4 by March, will be asked to play more in the paint this winter after the departure of All-SEC center Damian Jones last spring. Kornet set career highs with 8.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, and three blocks per game in a breakout junior year. He’ll be the team’s go-to big man in 2016-17.
