Kids try running – and blocking – with Vanderbilt players

How do you teach proper blocking technique to a first-grader? A few Vanderbilt offensive linemen found out Wednesday.

A group of Commodores hit the road Wednesday for Crieve Hall Elementary School, a public school located on the south side of Nashville, for a day of football-style fun and learning with local school children.

Among the highlights: Vanderbilt offensive linemen Barrett Gouger and Andrew Jelks carried pads for blocking drills, with students running to give those pads a good, solid forearm.

The linemen weren’t the only players enjoying the action.
