Jon Jones is back on top of the mixed martial arts world.
Jones triumphed in his first fight in three years Saturday night, defeating Ciryl Gane by first-round submission to capture the vacant heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 285 in Las Vegas.
Jones scored a takedown about one minute into the opening round before maneuvering to lock in a guillotine choke. Gane was in sitting position against the cage when he tapped 2 minutes, 4 seconds.
Jones (27-1, 1 NC), a former light heavyweight champion, made his heavyweight debut against Gane and won the belt that was relinquished by Francis Ngannou, who departed the UFC as a free agent earlier this year.
