Hillsborough (NC) DE Stone Edwards Commits to Vanderbilt after official visit

Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt Commodores picked up another verbal commitment today. Stone Edwards, a 6’4”, 240-pound defensive end prospect from Orange HS in Hillsborough, NC, became Vanderbilt’s 15th commitment in the Class of 2017 on Sunday.

Edwards is currently unrated according to Rivals, but the 247 Sports composite rates him as a three-star recruit and the 26th-ranked strongside defensive end — and also, now as the second-best player in Vanderbilt’s incoming recruiting class. At 240 pounds, Edwards will have to put on weight to play as a defensive end in Derek Mason’s 3-4 scheme, but he has the frame to do that.
