On the back of late rallies in the final three frames, the No. 9 Florida Gators came back to win 9-7 in 10 innings and put a dent in the No. 8 Commodores chances to secure a National Seed.
Designated hitter JJ Schwarz came through twice for the Gators before the game went into extra innings with a clutch triple in the eighth and the game-tying single in the ninth. Things continued to spiral out of control in the tenth when Jeren Kendall made an ill-advised play that cost them the game.
After allowing a one-out single, Richie Martin singled to left field, but instead of throwing it to a cut-off man, the freshmen airmailed a throw that bounced into Florida’s dugout, allowing Martin to advance two bases and score the winning run.
