Dores win fourth straight in sloppy, rainy win

February 19, 2016: Vanderbilt's first baseball game of the season results in an 8-4 victory over San Diego at Hawkins Field.

Sloppy weather often leads to sloppy play when matched with aggressive play calling. Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin knows that well and took advantage of that early and often.

Vanderbilt took a 2-1 lead in the first inning without recording a hit thanks to four stolen bases – two on consecutive pitches by Jeren Kendall – and hardly looked back.

All in all, Vanderbilt stole four bases on five attempts and the only caught stealing came when Ro Coleman overslid third on a double steal.
