Burks picked off two passes, one in the end zone and one that he returned for a touchdown, Vanderbilt’s first defensive points of the season.
“He’s done it a couple times in practice now,” said head coach Derek Mason. “It’s really nice to see him getting one of those in the game.”
Vanderbilt’s defense was highlighted by two goal line stands. After allowing a field goal on Kentucky’s opening drive, the defensive unit twice faced situations where Kentucky had the ball on the Vanderbilt 2 yard line.
The first time, Vanderbilt stopped run after run, including a 4th and 1 fullback dive from the six-inch line.
