Those numbers, which belonged to shortstop Dansby Swanson and right-hander Carson Fulmer, respectively, have been unofficially retired by head coach Tim Corbin.
“I just wanted to pull those back,” Corbin said. “I thought those kids were different. There’s a lot of infinite numbers that we can use, and once someone earns the right in my opinion to take that number and use it well both on and off the field, I think that we can take that shirt and put it in the closet and build a nice locker for it.”
Swanson and Fulmer were both Golden Spikes Award finalists last season and among the most decorated players in Commodore history.
