The latest bracket projections at D1baseball.com have Vanderbilt as the 2-seed in the Norwich Regional hosted by UConn. That’s a disappointment for a program that was ranked in the top 10 just a couple of weeks ago.
Vanderbilt’s recent slide — dropping 4 of 6 in weekend series against Missouri and South Carolina, as well as a midweek loss to Louisville — have the Commodores needing quite a lot to go right over the remainder of the season to host a regional at Hawkins Field next month. An 11-10 SEC record hurts a lot less than a 25-19 overall record; those midweek losses to the likes of Eastern Kentucky, Belmont, Lipscomb, and Middle Tennessee are coming back to bite them.
