The first half had the two teams keeping the score close, ending 33-31 in Vanderbilt’s favor. The Commodores came out roaring though, scoring 38 in the second half and winning 71 - 63.
Each team had their special duo — Vanderbilt’s Jeff Roberson and Riley LaChance facing off against Alabama’s Shannon Hale and Retin Obasohan.
Putting up 10 points, including 2 three-pointers and grabbing 8 rebounds in the first half alone, Roberson excelled throughout the game. He would later finish with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists — another step for the rising Vanderbilt star.
Riley LaChance held a hot hand as well and could not be cooled down, scoring 18 points, 15 of which came from three-point shots.
