Another week, another close loss. The pattern is getting frustrating for Vanderbilt and Derek Mason.
The Commodores coach pointed to special teams blunders and penalties as the culprits after Saturday’s 20-13 loss at Kentucky.
Some of Vanderbilt’s special teams errors included a missed field goal, several subpar punts and a muffed punt return that set up the Wildcats’ opening touchdown.
“We just need to do a better job, whether it’s operation time, continuity between snapholders, or returning and fielding,” Mason said. “I know it was a windy day, but we just have to make better decisions.
