Good morning. Vanderbilt University is honoring Perry Wallace today with a public event at Benton Chapel on campus. Wallace, the first African-American to compete in varsity basketball in the Southeastern Conference, would have been 70 today.
The men’s golf team handed Florida its second L to Vanderbilt this weekend, winning the SunTrust Gator Invitational by a margin of nine strokes over the second-place Gators. Sophomore John Augenstein shot a 64 in the final round.
Sadly, the women’s basketball team couldn’t complete the sweep of Florida, losing 88-71. Rachel Bell had 22 points for the Commodores, who are now 6-22 in Stephanie White’s second season.
