Okay, since we needed some good news regarding Vanderbilt sports that aren’t baseball (or women’s bowling, or tennis, or golf), Vanderbilt football picked up its first commitment in the 2021 recruiting class on Saturday night.
Tyler Bence, listed at 6’3” and 273 pounds on his Hudl page (but 257 on 247 Sports), announced via Twitter that he would be the first member of the 2021 recruiting class. He plays on the defensive line at Huntsville High School in, well, Huntsville, Alabama, and claimed offers from South Alabama and UAB prior to committing.
His 247 Sports page doesn’t have a rating (and he doesn’t even have a Rivals page yet), but at this point I’m willing to chalk that up to those sites simply not evaluating him to this point.
