Jordyn Huitema just turned 16 last month.
And on Sunday afternoon in Toronto, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite BC Soccer REX forward opened her account with the Canadian women’s national team with a pair of goals in a 6-0 win over Costa Rica. Huitema, who subbed on for her idol Christine Sinclair in the 67th minute, scored her first goal in the 73rd minute before adding a second less than a minute later.
The Chilliwack, B.C. native becomes the second youngest goalscorer in Canadian women’s national team history after former Whitecaps FC women’s player Kara Lang, who scored at the age of 15.
