VANCOUVER, BC – Not a bad home debut for Andrew Jacobson.
The 30-year-old was named Budweiser Man of the Match on Saturday in his first start as a member of Whitecaps FC for his role in helping the ‘Caps keep their first clean sheet of the season against Houston Dynamo – the highest scoring team in MLS.
Jacobson, a natural midfielder, was deployed at centre back with regulars Tim Parker and Kendall Waston away on international duty.
And he didn’t look out of place.
On Monday, Jacobson was one of three ‘Caps named to the MLS Team of the Week, joining goalkeeper David Ousted and midfielder Pedro Morales.
