VANCOUVER, BC – Kings of Cascadia, once more.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC reclaimed the Cascadia Cup on Sunday afternoon at BC Place, defeating Portland Timbers 4-1 in their 2016 MLS regular season finale.
The ‘Caps entered the match three points back of both Portland and Seattle in the Cascadia Cup standings. They knew they needed to win, and do so by at least three goals to pass Portland on goal differential, to finish above their Pacific Northwest rivals.
And that’s exactly what they did.
The three teams ended up finishing with identical 3W-3L-0D records in head-to-head matches against one another, but Whitecaps FC’s 4-1 win gives them the edge on goal differential.
