Edgar scores, but Canada's World Cup dream ends despite 3-1 win over El Salvador

VANCOUVER, BC - Canada’s World Cup dreams came to an end on Tuesday night at BC Place.

The Red and White defeated El Salvador 3-1 in front of a crowd of 20,726 but didn’t get the help they needed from Mexico, who played to a scoreless draw with Honduras at Azteca.

As a result, Canada finish third in Group A with seven points from six matches, behind Honduras (eight points) and Mexico (16 points).

Vancouver Whitecaps FC defenders Marcel de Jong and David Edgar both appeared in Tuesday’s contest in front of their home crowd.
