PASADENA, CA – Canada’s men’s national team opened the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup with a 4-0 win over Martinique on Saturday afternoon at the Rose Bowl.
It was Canada’s biggest-ever margin of victory at the Gold Cup.
Jonathan David led the way for the Red and White, scoring the first two goals of the game in the 33rd and 55th minutes. Junior Hoilett made it 3-0 for Canada in the 63rd minute, finishing a perfectly-placed cross from Vancouver Whitecaps FC product Alphonso Davies, before Scott Arfield added an exclamation mark on the night with a 67th-minute strike from the top of the box.
