MONTEVIDEO, UR – Canada kicked off play at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a 3-0 win over Colombia on Wednesday.
A quartet of players from the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX program in partnership with BC Soccer were key to the victory. Teni Akindoju, Jordyn Huitema, Caitlin Shaw, and Andersen Williams all earned starts for the Red and White.
The first goal came in the 78th minute on a corner kick from Shaw, headed in by Huitema.
