Canada's U-17 women's national team had made history as they qualified for the first time ever to the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup semifinals. However on Wednesday, it was not their day as they came up short in a 1-0 defeat against Concacaf rivals Mexico, who will move on face Spain in the final on Saturday.
Captain Jordyn Huitema had the best opportunity of the match for Canada as she found the back of the net on a quick break late in the first half, only to see the goal negated by a foul call.
