VANCOUVER, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 (11W-8L-9D) will have to wait another week to clinch a spot in the USL Playoffs after going down to 10 men and suffering a 2-0 loss to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (13W-8L-7D) on Sunday afternoon at Thunderbird Stadium.
Luke Vercollone scored both goals for the Switchbacks, who punched their postseason ticket with the win.
WFC2 made eight changes to the lineup from the previous match, featuring a young side including 21-year-old Chilean Christopher Diaz, who was making his first home start. He slotted into the back line, alongside Elliot Green and Deklan Wynne, and centre back Sem de Wit, who wore the captain’s armband in the absence of Kyle Greig, who served a one-match suspension due to yellow card accumulation.
