The first news from the Vancouver Canucks in Free Agency came right at the beginning of the Frenzy Wednesday morning, as Yannick Weber reportedly signed a one-year extension with the team.
The Swiss defender scored 11 goals and 21 points in 65 games with the Canucks last year.

In a surprising move, the Canucks chose not to qualify Weber before the Sunday deadline, making him an Unrestricted Free Agent instead of a Restricted Free Agent, but General Manager JIm Benning maintained he intended to re-sign him.
