Why Jordie Benn is the perfect addition to the Vancouver Canucks

Call me crazy, but adding a 31-year-old defenceman on a team friendly deal is something I am rather excited about. The Vancouver Canucks did right by me by adding Jordie Benn, a Victoria, British Columbia native, to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $2 million.

The team lost Ben Hutton, and while they’re likely still hoping that they can snag him on a team friendly deal as an unrestricted free agent, Benn is a solid replacement for Hutton, especially at just two million dollars per year. Benn is versatile, as he can play both the right and left side of the blueline with ease.
